Beyond the Psychedelic Session
Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy involves more than the pharmacologic
effects of a psychedelic medicine. Clinical care may also involve
complex emotional experiences, therapeutic relationships, preparation,
non-ordinary states of consciousness and post-session integration.
This 5th annual clinical conference
examines the rapidly evolving field through clinical cases,
vignettes, expert discussions and panel sessions.
The program addresses scientific evidence alongside therapeutic frameworks,
spiritual and existential experiences, somatic phenomena,
potential adverse effects and multidisciplinary approaches to care.
Five Dimensions of Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy
Set, Setting & Therapeutic Structure
Explore the therapeutic environment, clinical preparation
and considerations surrounding set and setting.
Non-Ordinary States
Examine emotional, somatic, transpersonal and altered experiences
that may emerge during psychedelic therapy.
Spiritual & Existential Dimensions
Consider grief, awe, spirituality, metaphysical questions
and different frameworks for understanding psychedelic experiences.
Clinical Response & Integration
Understand therapeutic frameworks, non-directive approaches,
behavioral interventions and complex clinical encounters.
Risk Recognition & Harm Reduction
Recognize challenging experiences, potential adverse effects
and strategies designed to minimize harm.
What Happens When the
Experience Becomes Complex?
Psychedelic psychotherapy may involve experiences that do not fit neatly
into conventional therapeutic categories. The conference examines how
clinicians can approach these situations with greater clinical awareness.
